pavilion

Black & White Photography, Katie

On our trip to Brussels earlier this year, we visited the Atomium.  It was built as one of the pavilions for the World Exhibition which took place in 1958, which makes it seem incredibly ahead of its time (and not exactly what comes to mind when I think of the word pavilion!). You can see the programme from the event here which gives some of the fascinating history around the structure, and the exhibition. I loved how the vapour trails in the sky seemed to be echoing the angles of the building.

  1. You’ve captured some really super reflections in this shot, Katy. Like Jane Morley, I love those vapour trails and the Atomium structure really works well in black and white. 🙂

  2. Love the matching of the ‘geometry’ of the sky trails with the geometry of the structure. Interesting angle and really effective.
